 Dear [MP Name],

I am writing to you today regarding the ongoing genocide in Gaza. Over the past two years, Israel has flagrantly abused international laws; the majority of the countries around the world have stood by and let this happen. A paltry attempt at a ceasefire was put in place, and Israel has completely disregarded this too.

One of the latest updates is that Israel is now revoking the licenses of 37 aid groups working across Gaza if they do not provide comprehensive lists of the details of the aid workers. The aid organisations have, understandably, voiced concern for this - without their support, Gaza will fall into an even more dire state than it already has. In addition to this, if they were to provide the lists, it would create a huge safety issue for all of those involved as Israel has targeted healthcare workers, hospitals and ambulances, which has amounted to potentially over 1,000 healthcare workers having been killed since October 7th, until September 2024. British citizens are also among those who have been killed, with absolutely no recourse from our government.

Particularly heinous examples of healthcare worker safety being blatantly disregarded include the paramedics who went to rescue Hind Rajab, being shot and left for dead. The ‘double-tap’ strike on Nasser Hospital killed 22 people, including journalists and healthcare workers. An additional example is that of the Rafah Ambulance Massacre - a series of ambulances were clearly marked and had their lights on, however the IDF struck them, killing 15 aid workers, many with shots to the head and heart. The ambulances and the aid workers were then buried on the side of the road in an attempt to conceal the crime. There was no evidence that any of them were Hamas operatives, and none of them had been armed. Even more heartbreakingly, when video footage from within one of the ambulances surfaced (and contradicted all Israeli statements), it was revealed that one of the paramedics could be heard asking his mother for forgiveness and saying that all ever wanted to do was help others. All of these and more can be found, with evidence, across multiple sources online.

It seems unreasonable, given the examples laid out above, and many more, that Israel can revoke these licenses, commit another human rights violation and deny the people of Gaza humanitarian aid in yet another way.

What is being done about this? Can the government be forced into some sort of action? To apply pressure to Israel to, at the very least, allow the aid organisations to continue? Something that will have an effect? To encourage boycotts; to sanction; to stop supporting this absolute horror. Can Lammy and Starmer have some sort of legal repercussions brought against them for enabling this? If a ceasefire has been arranged, why not send peace-keeping troops to Gaza?

This genocide is the catalyst for the horrors around the world continuing. Netanyahu, his government and citizens/army have flouted the rules for far too long, in broad daylight, for the world to see, opening up opportunities for the other monsters of the world to do whatever they like and not worry about repercussions. The world is falling into a dangerous state and it is long overdue for folks in power to show some sort of leadership; to step up and do something about it BEFORE it is too late.

Sincerely,
