Rosie Parmley
’On the Moon’ Oil Painting
50 x 50mm
£450
ROSIE PARMLEY is a contemporary painter and potter, who likes to work in oil. A simple still life or landscape. Some of these continue as memory painting or collages and other times a painting can start from drawings, pulling together a scene from ones head. Rosie loves colour and talks about it being like the music and rhythm of nature. She can turn up the colour in her palette or tune the colours right down depending on the subject matter.
Rosie trained in fine art at the former Bath Academy where her practice began with sculpture so it’s no wonder that she is drawn to the three-dimensional in her relief paintings and in her ceramics. Her pots range in porcelain, stoneware or terracotta and no two are the same. A love of antiquity, referencing her Cypriot heritage are an additional source of inspiration. Each object Rosie creates is unique and precious to take you on a journey to another place and time. To read a painting or hold a pot is a precious act with a social truth to be unravelled.
